Why Do Women Wear Pointy-Toed Shoes and Cake-on the Makeup?

November 5th 2006 21:54
“A little bit of powder, a little bit of paint, makes a girl's complexion seem what it ain't” – Unknown

I used to think that makeup was from the devil. When I was young I wondered why people bothered to put this artificial crap on their face, when in my opinion, they looked fine in the first place. Then my supple, clear child skin turned into imperfections and acne. That’s when you find out that covering pimples is the most important thing in the world! But what else I’ve realised over the years of using makeup, when added to fashion, is that it’s all just a huge competition between girls. The stilettos, hot hair and caked on makeup are more a ‘who’s the hottest?’ game for the chicks at the party rather than intense eye candy for the men.

It’s true, I read it somewhere. If you actually ask your boyfriend what he thinks about your heels if he is honest he’ll most likely mutter something about them being impractical and awkward. And every glamour girl has confirmed this at least once by getting her narrow heel stuck in between the cracks of the pavement. Contrary to the fact of me actually being a girl, I really despise the inventor of high-heeled pointy-toed shoes that absolutely KILL to wear! These shoes don’t have any structural of functional benefit to anyone and all they do is look good as that sexy woman is painfully toddling down the street.

But what about her ay? She HAS to wear them to keep up with the high-heeled pointy-toed Jones’s and if she doesn’t she’s boring and is labelled “Saff”, the geeky, unfashionable dry-as-toast teen on Absolutely Fabulous. But that’s unfair! She’s just wearing a sensible pair of shoes so she can walk the whole length of George Street without any dislocation and bleeding, and to grow old with straight feet that don’t bend on a 90 degree angle!

I don't mind if girls want to wear heels for appropriate occasions, but makeup and heels to go down to the store? It's insane!

Well that's what it has come to unfortunately.
What's really bad is seeing the teenagers getting into heels at such a young age... it's terrible.
