Three Wise Men follow a... Parking Space

September 1st 2006 03:36
"Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall. We traditionally do this in my family by driving around the parking lot until we see a shopper emerge from the mall, then we follow her, in very much the same spirit as the Three Wise Men, who 2,000 years ago followed a star, week after week, until it led them to a parking space." - Dave Barry.

Hey look Steve, is that a parking space there?

So true Dave! The thing is though; you don’t have to wait til Christmas for my local shopping centre car park to be as busy as hell. Every time I go there, whether it is at 10 in the morning of 5:30 at night, I’m always confronted with masses of cars lined up to get in to the joint and a near impossible parking situation! So like Barry says, you just have to stalk the people getting out of the centre until you find a spot. It’s just ridiculous. When construction companies decided there was a demand for a huge shopping centre, then wouldn’t that mean there would also be a demand for many parking spaces? Duh!

Maybe trying to park a camel at Christmas would be a lot easier than a car. We'd certainly be able to fit more camels than cars into the parking lot...

The only drawback is their copious amount of droppings....ah well, all transport has its positives and negatives.
