The lead dog's fate - Richard Saunders
April 21st 2006 00:57
"The lead dog gets the best view. The rest of the dogs view is butt ugly. Of course, the lead dog is also the first to fall into the ravine." - Richard Saunders
This quote by Richard Saunders emphasises the risk and responsibility involved in being the leader, or boss. Although ‘the lead dog gets the best view’ it is the first to have to deal with issues and problems and in this extreme case, death. The ‘butt ugly’ view of the rest of the dogs probably refers to seeing the backsides of the ones in front of them, this could symbolise the viewing of the lead dog’s faults or perhaps just being aware that they are always behind the leader, and only ever second place.
Although our bosses have 'the best view’, or the most prosperous outlook, it will be their arse on the line when danger is afoot, and they will be the first to fall.
