Success - Not For the Heir...

"Success has always been easy to measure. It is the distance between one's origins and one's final achievement."- Michael Korda
This is a good way of defining success as it excludes all those people who are just left with massive fortunes and don’t really accomplish great success on their own – so the distance between their origins and their final achievement is shorter than the self-made millionaire.
Now running the City2Surf on the other hand, is a successful event. You start a whole 14 km before the finish line and try your best with limited fitness and minimal (if any) training but feel fantastic once you’ve finished. I bet Korda defines the completion of this race as successful indeed. And I think those who managed to participate in thick, hot animal costumes (without suffering from heat exhaustion) and the lesser-abled of the entrants were the most successful of all!
Check out my post on Sunday’s City2Surf.
