Pizza Arriving Before the Police
July 12th 2006 07:35
"We live in an age when pizza gets to your home before the police."
Jeff Marder.
At first this quote sounds funny but it really is sad as it’s probably true. Especially in small towns, it’s hard for the cops to choose, and arrive at the most vital situation. When you only have a police force of 15-20 and they’re all out on the road or at other appointments it would be difficult to answer a call efficiently and with ample officers, also the place of call could be very far away. Same goes for the ambulance and fire brigade.
Thankfully, touch wood, I’ve never been in this situation as I’ve never had to call for an emergency. But you always hear of people ‘being stranded’, eagerly waiting for help. Although it’s possible that the media just blows the situation out of proportion. Have any of our readers been involved in this sort of situation? Where help just arrived too late?
