Peter Griffin: “Lois, when I'm through with them, our kids will be so smart, they'll be able to program their own VCRs without spilling piping hot gravy all over myself.”
Peter’s so dumb that he can’t even describe something that could happen to others without referring to himself directly! It’s ‘their own VCRs’ but spilling gravy ‘all over myself’. This joke is so funny because it’s just slotted in to the quote subtly.
Peter Griffin Trivia:
• Did you know that Peter Griffin’s ‘thick-as-chowder’ accent is actually supposed to be one of Rhode Island?
• Peter was once a member of Simon and Garfunkel where he thought the song should be "Here's To You Mrs. Fleckenstein" (which is the last name of a Family Guy writer's assistant). When Simon & Garfunkel turned down the idea he said "Screw you guys, I'm goin' to 'Nam" (as in Vietnam).
• Peter's arch-nemesis is a man-sized chicken who gave him an expired coupon. He fought him throughout Rhode Island in two episodes; "Da Boom" and "Blind Ambition".
• Too much alcohol has damaged most of Peter’s brain cells. (He has one left, whose glasses break and the cell cries “No, it’s just not fair” as he can no longer read his books). In the episode "Petarded" he was officially declared to be mentally retarded.
• Slow Peter: watching an advertisement for the KISS-Stock tour, it wasn't until later at the dentist that he figured out that he could go to KISS-Stock, and he went crazy whilst the dentist has an instrument in his mouth. Also, in the episode "Brian in Love", Peter suddenly realized that Brian could talk as he was telling Peter that he was in love with a girl (who was in fact Lois). “Oh my God, you can talk!”
