People With a Permanent Positive Attitude

August 24th 2006 06:40
"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort." - Herm Albright

Good quote Albright. I’m sure everyone knows at least one permanently happy person, who’s always laughing (even when stuff isn’t funny) and with a consistent positive attitude. I know two such people and they amaze the hell out of me.
It's weird how some people are always cheerful!

I’d say I usually am a happy person, (although this depends on who I’m with) but like most others I have my melancholy, irritated, and downright angry times. I’ve never quite understood how some people are just always ‘on’. I mean there’s only so much smiling and laughing I can take until my cheeks start hurting and the muscles on top of my head really start killing me (does anyone else get this when they are absolutely laughing their arse off?).

Now I’m guessing that these people probably annoy those close to them, those who have to put up with their permanent positive outlook 24/7 - but I find them entertaining. If you are ever in a bit of a down mood go and talk to these guys and I guarantee you you’ll smile at least once – even if it is forced, just to make them feel comfortable.

When the positive side of my personality gets too much 'screen time' the other guy (the sour, jaded bitter one with the overbite and perma-frost) kicks his ass. I've had soooo many awkward trips to the Doctor's Office.

Knowing people with such a continuously positive way of living life is fascinating to me. I often wonder if they are that happy when they are alone, were they born that way or is it something they have learn? I definitely believe that we can kick-start our mood if we are feeling down and try and smile or watch/listen/think of something funny. I'm not saying it always works - there are times where I'm in a bad mood and that's that. But it can work.....behaviour can sometimes precede and affect thinking.
