Paul Lynde - Talking about Dinner at Lunch
August 21st 2006 00:47
“At my house, the main discussion at lunch was what we were going to have for dinner. Salads were either macaroni or Waldorf.” – Paul Lynde
Paul Lynde was an American comedian and actor who died in 1982. He played Uncle Arthur on Bewitched and the befuddled father in Bye Bye Birdie. He voiced the role of Templeton, that obese, over-eating rat in Charlotte’s Web.
This quote made me chuckle. Apart from the macaroni and Waldorf salads, my family always seems to be discussing what we are having for dinner. It seems to be the token morning question to Mum. “G’morning Mum. What’s for dinner?” We’re not an obese, over-eating family like the rat in Charlotte’s web but we just enjoy eating. What’s wrong with that? As long as you keep to your exercise regime and mainly eat healthy food – which we always do – I think it’s ok to talk about food non-stop. Even if it is only the morning and you’re just preparing breakfast.
By the way, if you are a Charlotte’s Web fan like myself, you’ll be glad to hear there will be a remake of the 1973 film released at the end of this year with Dakota Fanning as Fern. But as per usual, I doubt it’ll be anywhere near as good as the original.

Rocky's Running Diary
My cousin from France was here a couple of weeks ago, and we took her on a road trip. At one point she fell asleep for an hour or so. When she woke up, she said "When I fell asleep you were talking about food, and now an hour later I wake up and you're still talking about food!"
And it was true.
