Mother Theresa Quote
May 11th 2006 00:24
“Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater developments and greater riches and so on, so that children have very little time for their parents. Parents have very little time for each other, and in the home begins the disruption of peace of the world.” – Mother Theresa
Mother Theresa’s death was around the same time of Princess Diana’s and hence wasn’t, in my opinion, properly recognised at the time. Mother Theresa founded the Missionaries of Charity in India. Her work among poverty-stricken Calcutta made her one of the world's most famous people, and she was beatified by Pope John Paul II in October 2003.
I’m a firm believer of this quote. I’m always aware of how rushed we all are today. Now I know I’m not an old woman, but I have noticed a change throughout the years – people seem to care more about where they are going and how quick they can get there than of the welfare of others. An obvious example of this is people pushing past you in the street without an apology. It’s much easier for them to just keep rushing and get to work 3 seconds earlier than to stop and make the effort to say ‘sorry’. This needs to be fixed!
You can make the difference people! Apologise when you run into people and teach your children to do so also. Make time for your families, because as a wise Blessed Mother once said - ‘in the home begins the disruption of peace of the world’.
