Can you guess where this movie quote is from? I’ll give you a hint: the man who is singing hires a woman to look after his children. A woman who is able to pull a lamp out of her bag... and can make cleaning fun - “In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. You find the fun and - SNAP - the job's a game!” – That’s right, it’s Mary Poppins! One of the top 10 movies of all time (well that’s what I think).
This quote is by Mr. Banks, when he sings about how seemingly pleasant his life is before Mary Poppins steps in as the new nanny. Poppins, as you’ll remember, turns the household around for the better and Banks’ life ends up being more fulfilled at the end of the movie. This film is an absolute classic and I just love how Mary Poppins is so bright and witty. I love how she makes everything so magical and fun, and how she whistled with the robin outside the play room and sung with herself in the mirror. If I ever had a nanny, I’d want her. I know she was pretty disciplinary but you have to be to put the kids in line!
If you’d like to see a debate between supporters of Maria Von Trapp (The Sound of Music) and Mary Poppins for who would be a better nanny, it’s worth having a look at this World Wide Web Fight (WWWF) – it’s pretty good for a laugh.
