Lucille Ball - How to Stay Young
July 3rd 2006 06:51
“The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.” - Lucille Ball
I LOVE Lucy! Isn’t she great!? I think Ms Ball's advice is quite wise. I don’t know about living honestly, but I’ve heard that the French stay so thin because they eat slowly and really appreciate their food. You have to take your time - if you have the time! When I was working for an accounting firm (don’t worry, I came to my senses and escaped while I was still young!) and going to uni at night, most of my breakfasts were scoffed down and coffees skulled while I was rushing to get ready in the mornings. Not a good idea in longevity terms according to Lucy.
I haven’t come to the lying-about-my-age stage yet, thank goodness. And I’ve passed the age where I want to be older. I’m just happy where I am! But I bet older people don’t exactly tell the truth. What do our readers think? Who out there lies about their age? Come on, fess up! Lucy lived until she was 78 years old, which is pretty good for a year 1911 baby. So I say we should try to follow her advice – live honestly, eat slowly and - if we’re old enough - lie about our age!
