Kalan's hammers and George W. Bush
May 18th 2006 00:24
“Give a small boy a hammer and he will find that everything he encounters needs pounding.”
- Kalan
This quote is about power. Like the small boy with his hammer, if you give, say, a country a lot of power they will also find that everything needs pounding. To be totally blatant, and I’m sure a lot of people are in agreeance here; George W. Bush is that little boy.
Invading Iraq wasn’t enough, now he must pound another country – Iran. Or, maybe he just likes pounding countries with ‘IRA’ at the front; he could just be an avid fan of the Irish Republican Army!
But enough rabbiting on… this quote can also be used for other holders of power – corrupt police, school teacher power, and of course the schoolyard bully. If someone is in possession of power, it will be like possessing a hammer, and with it comes the urge to pound everything the holder encounters.
