Jonathan Swift - keep money away from your heart!

“A wise man should have money in his head, but not in his heart” - Jonathan Swift
Jonathan Swift was an Irish essayist, novelist and satirist, living in the 1700’s. The quote here suggests that we should think about money throughout life and always consider it but not let it control us or hold it too closely. When someone has something in his or her heart, they value it with a high regard and would want it always to be there, like holding on to a touching memory, or the love of your sole mate. These things are considered important to hold in your heart.
When you start to consider having money in your heart, you think of greed and desire for something that is material, although not totally useless. As the quote suggests, we should only consider money and the material objects it can provide for, to some degree; and save our heart for memories, love and cherished things that money cannot buy. Remember another famous quote, 'the best things in life are free'.
