Funny Answering Machine Greetings

“Hi! John's answering machine is broken. This is his refrigerator. Please speak very slowly, and I'll stick your message to myself with one of these magnets.” – Answering Machine
Ah! Don’t you just love funny answering machine greetings? This one’s great! I’m just a sucker for personification though. This greeting even goes so far as to show how the fridge isn’t used to taking messages and so he requests the message-leaver to ‘speak very slowly’. This greeting also shows how the fridge isn’t quite familiar with how the whole magnetic thing works. Or, maybe that he is fascinated by it. You can just picture the fridge looking down, scanning the different magnets and uttering “and I’ll just stick your message to myself with one of these magnets”.
Family Guy is a heavy user of personification. Remember that episode when Chris says. “This is the worst car ride ever! Except for that time we hit that deer.” The next scene shows Peter and a worried upright deer, both looking a the collision made between their two cars. Hahaha! Because of course, you’re expecting Peter to actually be hitting this deer in the wild. It’s even funnier when Peter argues about the severity of the crash, and the deer says “Look, I’d prefer it if I could just get your information!”
You gotta love randomness in Family Guy. But going back to today’s quote, I wonder if anyone actually does use these funny machine greetings? I’ve always been tempted to but you know, my Grandmother might call and she’ll get all confused, or the boss would call and I’d just seem like a no-good slacker. If you are a user, here’s another funny answering machine greeting you can try:
“Hi. This is John: If you are the phone company, I already sent the money. If you are my parents, please send money. If you are my financial aid institution, you didn't lend me enough money. If you are my friends, you owe me money. If you are a female, don't worry, I have plenty of money.”
