“There are no facts, only interpretations.” - Friedrich Nietzsche
Friedrich Nietzsche was a highly influential German philosopher and psychologist of the late 1800’s.
I am always aware of this quote at uni. Anything you are taught is just what a person, or group of people believe. It is usually on account of a majority of people beleiving in something that a fact becomes a fact. Although, we mustn’t be too critical.
When people read things from say, Wikipedia, they are usually a bit wary about whether the information on their desired subject is true. But when looking at a text book’s description, we usually take this as fact. And, unfortunately, we just have to unquestioningly believe this.
It is only when a student becomes a researcher or academic and can test these assumptions of life that they can deduce the truth, and know it for themselves.
