Einstein and Nuclear Weapons

"I don't know how man will fight World War III, but I do know how they will fight World War IV; with sticks and stones." – Albert Einstein
I reckon Einstein’s thoughts here have something to do with the discovery of nuclear energy during his time. From memory, I believe he essentially provided the foundation for the development of nuclear weaponry through his work in physics, and regretted ever being a part of it.
This quote shows mankind’s ability to destroy much of the planet through nuclear weapons. Einstein thinks that WWIII will involve so much destruction (assuming through powerful bombs) that we’ll have no choice but to revert back to the basic weapons of battle – sticks and stones, as we’ll just have nothing left.
He has got a point here. Don’t you just wish we could have gained the genius of Einstein’s theories without having such a vicious practical use for them?
