Dogs are Excited, Cats are Manipulative...

"You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you this look that says, "My God, you're right! I never would've thought of that!" - Dave Barry.
Hahaha! That is definitely the case! Young dogs (especially puppies) are crazily excited 24/7. My dog is a perfect example; give him even the slightest suggestion of opening the door to go outside and he goes nuts! “Yay! You’re coming outside! What a complete delight! I absolutely love it when you come outside! What a novel idea!” And as Dave Barry says, if you actually show some attention towards a dog by looking at them and asking them questions they go so crazy!
I think it’s because modern dogs don’t get as much attention as they should be getting. People work long hours and love wasting time watching TV and stuffing around on the internet - and these neglected pets just want to be loved! My teenage sister was given a dog for her birthday a few years ago. After the initial fun of playing with it and teaching it obedience, the novelty wore off and she just stopped caring about it. She absolutely resents taking it for a walk (but this might be because Mum tells her to do so and she’s an adolescent so she has to rebel!), and she never wants it around… “Go away Ben!” “I’m watching TV Ben!” or “You’re such a pain in the arse dog!”.
Dogs have a really decent, outgoing personality, but it’s not the same with cats though is it? Their persona is so sly and manipulative – that’s why I never liked cats. It’s like they know something that you don’t, that they’re planning world domination with all the other little schemers, and soon they’ll suddenly pounce on you and scratch you to death!
So really I don’t mind dogs going mad when they see you – at least they’re an overtly genuine animal that just wants to be appreciated. I’d prefer a loving dog than one of those calculating kitties any day.
