Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey - Saturday Night Live

"How come the dove gets to be the peace symbol? How about the pillow? It has more feathers than the dove, and it doesn't have that dangerous beak.” – Jack Handey
This top quote is from Jack Handey, who is a writer of Deep Thoughts, a whole bunch of surrealistic one-liner jokes. From what I’ve leart from Wikipedia, he gave these quotes on Saturday Night Live between 1991 and 1998, and again from 2001 to 2003. He would read the Thoughts live but never appeared onscreen. These one-liners became very popular and so became a continuous feature on the show and making Handey a well-known name.
I do agree with Handey’s reasoning in the above quote – the beack of a dove doesn’t make it an all-round soft and comfortable peace symbol. But the thing is, people can exert a lot of rage on pillows. Have you ever punched a pillow when you were angry? I don’t think that it’s such a rare action. And pillows can be used for pure evil too, like suffocation. I think why the dove can be seen as a peace symbol is because it’s a free thing – it’s a bird. The pillow is burdened by its static position, but the dove can fly anywhere it wishes – freedom in the world is a sign of peace.
Another great Handey Deep Thought Your text goes hereI found is: “Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someone's neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing.”
Also: “I hope if dogs ever take over the world and they choose a king, they don't just go by size, because I bet there are some Chihuahuas with some good ideas.”
I’ve never seen (I mean heard) this guy on Saturday Night Live as I never watch the show. Has anyone out there heard a Deep Thought?

Some of them are brilliant:
"I can imagine a world with war. And I can imagine us invading that world"
"I think you should always carry around two sacks. That way, if someone asks you to help them, you can just say 'Sorry, got these sacks'"
"If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did.""
"I believe in making the world safe for our children, but not our children's children, because I don't think children should be having sex."
Brilliant!
