How Do Men 'Place Themselves' When Horseriding?

November 19th 2006 22:48
“If there was any logic in this world, it would be men who ride side-saddle, not women” – Unknown

A very good point unknown. Now I have no idea about what men actually feel, but by the looks of it in Western movies, wouldn’t it absolutely kill to ride a horse? I mean, all that excessive bashing against the horses back must cause some damage? Or is there some sort of technique to ‘place yourself’ so you don’t damage any of your valuables?

Or what about motorbike riding? Is it that uncomfortable? Both of these activities must involve some way of looking after what matters, otherwise so many men wouldn’t be engaging in horse riding and motorbike riding. And while I’m on the topic, how much does it hurt when an injury does occur – either from sitting down wrong or a clash from a woman’s knee? I’d assume it is usually repairable damage, (as the poor groin-injured guy in the movie always gets back up in the next scene) but it must really hurt because guys wince just looking at someone on TV getting kicked in the privates!

Another useless change made for women is the ladies bike. It’s structured differently than the males because in the olden days women wore skirts (even when they went riding!). Nowadays, even with women favouring short shorts rather than petticoats when exercising, the ladies bike is still in production. My guess is that women continue to buy these bikes because they believe they are strictly ‘ladies’ bikes and don’t want to look butch riding a ‘men’s’ bike. But the question is, is the ladies bike just as safe as the men’s bike? If so, then why didn’t they just make all bikes the same when they realised that women cycled too? But if the ladies bike isn’t as structurally sound, well… that’s a bit scary!
