Alfred Hitchcock & The Bladder
July 25th 2006 06:05
"The length of a film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder." - Alfred Hitchcock.
I agree Alfred! And this guy would know about movies. A master of the suspense thriller, Alfred Hitchcock – who died in 1980 – produced and directed many movies including silent films (his first being No. 13/Mrs Peabody in 1922).
Some movies are just way too long. Needing to run off to the loo during a movie not only interrupts your viewing but your fellow movie-goers will be agitated when you ask them what you missed, cutting out even more viewing of the film.
The Lord of The Rings is a prime example. They may as well have had an intermission. Seriously, what’s wrong with that? The Opera House does it so why not the local cinema? Maybe it’s thought that young people can hack 3 hours but the old people who go to the opera just don’t have strong bladders anymore…
